Parent Governor Recruitment
Mon 30 Nov 2020RECRUITMENT AND ELECTION OF A PARENT GOVERNOR
Are you a parent or carer who would consider joining the Governing Body, and helping move the school forward?
The School is looking to recruit a Parent Governor to join the Governing Body. The role of a Parent Governor is important in the life and development of Rosehill School. You would join the Governing Body, in deciding the policies that will be implemented by the Headteacher and staff for the benefit of the school community. It is challenging, but rewarding to know that you have really contributed to the education of the pupils and the life of the staff and the school.
Your commitment would be to attend two meetings each term and to read the papers. Of course, you will be a welcome figure within the school at any time, and most Governors commit to one or two visits per year.
Some Governors also sit on the sub - committees for finance and personnel. Governors with expertise in finance, personnel, marketing and fundraising would be very welcome. This would potentially require attendance at a further meeting per term.
All parents over the age of 18 are eligible (see attached) to stand for election and to vote with the exception of:
- Those who are elected members of the Nottingham City Council
- Those who are employed to work at the school for more than 500 hours in an academic year
- Those who are ineligible. Please see attached guidance on persons disqualified from holding or from continuing to hold office as a governor or associate member
There is no payment for the role of Governor, but there is an immense satisfaction to be gained by contributing to the education of children and young people at Rosehill School. We very much appreciate the time given by Governors, who take their role seriously.
Applications are therefore invited from any parent or carer who has a child currently on roll at the school.
How to apply
- Please complete the attached nomination form to register your interest by Monday 14th December 2020
- On receipt of the completed nomination forms, ballot papers will be drawn up for voting
If there is more than one nomination then elections will be held. If only one nomination is received, this person will be appointed to the Governing Body.
The forms and information can be found at the following link

Nottingham City Educational Psychology Service Survey
Mon 30 Nov 2020Dear Parent/Carer,
Nottingham City Educational Psychology Service conducted some research during the Covid-19 lockdown into pupil views on their education. This research has been used to inform policy and support schools with understanding pupil views in the context of the return to education.
We are now really interested to know how your child has experienced being back in school and if they have anything they want to tell us about how it feels to be in school. Or, if your child has not returned to school, we want to know what could help them to feel okay about coming back.
Please could you help your child to complete the survey below, this is now part of a nationwide project that we hope will be instrumental in understanding the needs of our pupils across the country over the coming school year.

UNISON Stars in our Schools Celebration Day
Thu 26 Nov 2020Stars in our Schools: UNISON celebrating support staff
As you may have already heard, UNISON is holding a national celebration day for school support staff on Friday 27 November 2020 called ‘Stars in our Schools’. Last year thousands of children, staff and parents in schools across the UK took part. We know this year will be a little different but we think it is really important to mark the day.
Please join us in celebrating the positive role of the whole school support staff team in making your school a safe and happy place for children to learn.
Across the UK, schools are holding online and/or socially distanced events to recognise the contribution of school support staff, particularly during the difficult times we are experiencing this year, and we would love you to join in.
- Nominate a fantastic support staff colleague to get the chance to win a £25 M&S voucher (link on our Stars in Our Schools web page link below).
- Some are asking their local MP to send a message of support and asking local press to help mark the day.
- Others are asking pupils to make ‘thank you’ posters or nominate a support staff member for a special award.
It would be fantastic if your school could support the day in any safe way that you can. A full list of ideas for schools is available on the Resources page of the Stars in our Schools website – www.StarsInOurSchools.uk, where posters and graphics are also available to download and use.
