  • New Headteacher Appointed

Fri 23 Mar 2018 Cheryl Steele

    Dear Parents and Carers,

The last time I wrote to you all I was able to give you the good news about the splendid outcome of the Ofsted Inspection.

Today I have more good news. After an intense and exhaustive interview process on Thursday I am pleased to tell you that Mrs Cheryl Steele, currently Acting Headteacher, was offered the permanent post of Headteacher, and on behalf of the governing board I am delighted that she has accepted. This is great news for the school and I am sure that you will all give her the tremendous support that you have provided during her period as acting Headteacher.

The very first duty of Mrs Steele as permanent Headteacher, ten minutes after being offered and accepting the position, was to receive the Right Honourable Damian Hinds MP, the new Secretary of State for Education. He spent almost two hours in the school, meeting staff, parents, governors, and most importantly, children. He toured the school and was very impressed with what he saw, listening, asking questions, and allowing us to ask questions of him.

Yesterday was indeed a significant day in the history of the school.

    Best wishes,

    Dr Christopher Reynolds OBE KSG

  • Damian Hinds MP Visits Rosehill

    Thu 22 Mar 2018

    Good Afternoon,

We were privileged to have a very special visitor to Rosehill School today. The newly appointed Right Honourable Damian Hinds MP, Secretary of State for Education chose Rosehill as his first special school experience. He met with pupils, staff, parents and Governors, and enjoyed taking part in our Science Week experiments, particularly exploring making bubbles, and gas and air experiments. He met with our Student council who shared with him some of the outstanding work we do.

Please take a look on twitter at some of the posts already following this visit by searching Rosehill School. Attached are just a few examples:

  • World Book Day 2018 - Outcomes

    Fri 09 Mar 2018

World Book Day this year fell on Thursday 1st March when the school was closed due to snow. That did not stop Rosehill pupils and staff celebrating, so we have had a Book Week instead!

This week children and staff explored a wide range of reading and book related activities: they engaged with “The dragon machine” story following a sensory trail and pretending to make and fly the machine, dress up, imagine themselves in the dragon land and counting dragons.  They took part in art and drama sessions, singing, movement and sound making. All classes have visited our school library and searched for dragons around school.

Many children and staff came to school dressed up as book characters.

It has been a special week for all of us and an opportunity to develop children’s love to reading and stories. It was great to see children engaged, well behaved, reciting the stories and exploring sensory props.

A big thank you to all staff and parents, who helped the week to be successful.

  • School Closure Friday 2nd March 2018

Fri 02 Mar 2018 Cheryl Steele

    Dear Parents and Careers,

Due to the low temperatures forecasted today following on from the heavy snowfall yesterday and adverse weather conditions, it is has not been possible to make the site safe for pupils and staff today. Coupled with the unpredictability of transport arrangements at this point, and the untreated pavements and roads in the local area, Rosehill School will be closed today Friday 2nd March 2018. The safety of our pupils and staff is always our first priority. Please continue to take care in these adverse weather conditions and check our website over the weekend for further updates.

Many thanks for your continued understanding.

    Cheryl Steele, Acting Headteacher
