    Class Closures

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak and to keep our pupils and staff safe, we have made the decision to close the following classes at Rosehill

    Class 4 Princess

    Class 7 Corgis

    Class 8 Crown

    Class 10 Windsor Castle

    Class 14 Tower of London

These class closures will be up to and including Monday 23rd March, at which point this will be reviewed.  You will be updated prior to Tuesday 24th March.

We have made this decision in the interests of health & Safety, Safeguarding and wellbeing off all pupils and staff, following advice from Public Health England.

We have had no confirmed cases of the Coronavirus, but some staff and pupils have been advised to self-isolate to protect themselves and their families.

Having analysed staffing, we have concluded that there is a significant number of staff who are unable to come into school.  This means that it is not possible to function safely and securely as a school for the above classes at this time.

As we are facing an unprecedented situation, we are monitoring the situation on a daily basis.  We will keep parents /carers regularly updated about any closures and all updates will be posted onto the school website www.rosehillschool.com/

The rest of the school will remain open at this time, but as you can appreciate this is being assessed and reviewed on a daily basis.  Parents/carers will be kept updated.

We are working hard to make sure that we are reducing the risk of the infection at Rosehill School.

  • COVID-19 Update March 18th 2020

    Wed 18 Mar 2020

    COVID-19 Update March 18th 2020

The Government’s policy is that schools should remain open. You should continue to send your children to school if they are well.

If anyone in your household has a new, persistent cough or a high temperature, then everyone in the household (not just the individual with the symptoms) must self-isolate for 14 days.

Any child who has been off or sent home with these symptoms, will not be allowed back in school for 14 days from the onset of their symptoms. Similarly, any child who has parents or siblings displaying symptoms will not be permitted in school for the same period and should remain at home.

If your child is unwell, please contact the school office as you would normally while school remains open.

We will keep you up to date with any changes to the current situation via text messages, letters and the website.

What we are doing to protect and support pupils and staff

    • If a pupil is feeling ill on the school premises you will be contacted immediately.
    • The school is thoroughly cleaned at the beginning and end of each day.
    • We have built in regular sessions for hand washing in school including on entry and on leaving the school.
    • We are explicitly teaching children about the importance of hand washing in lessons.
    • We have cancelled assemblies, trips and gatherings of large numbers of people.  Lunchtimes are staggered to minimise social contact.
    • Staff are also self-monitoring and self-isolating if the need arises. We have also recommended that any staff with a pre-existing medical condition identified by the government guidance should self-isolate.

What we need you to do

What happens if the school has to close?

We will only close if we are either officially ordered to do so, or we do not have enough staff to safely run the school.

    In either case, we will

    • Alert parents to closure, via text message and also via a post on our website. We will also alert the City Council and the radio stations
    • We will let parents know when the school will be reopened again via the school text messaging service as well as via the website
    • In the event of a closure, we will provide some activities and resources for your child to use. We have a dedicated Home Learning tab on our website found under the pupils tab.

    If you have any questions

    Please consult the:

    • School office- if you have any questions
    • NHS- If you think you or your child may have the symptoms, use NHS 111 online if at all possible before calling 111, this can be found on the following website https://111.nhs.uk/
    • Department for Education’s coronavirus helpline: 0800 046 8687, if you have any questions

Please do let us know if you are feeling particularly vulnerable at this time and we will do our best to support you or signpost you to the relevant services

  • Coronavirus update 16.3.2020

Mon 16 Mar 2020 Cheryl Steele

Please feel reassured that at Rosehill we are constantly working to make sure that we are responding to all the latest information from the government about Coronavirus. Rosehill will be open today, and we will remain open until we are instructed to close.

If your child is unwell with a cough, fever or flu like symptoms it is really important that you keep them at home to self-isolate for at least 7 days.

The Rosehill website will be updated with all the latest information and letters to parents, so please keep an eye on it. The following page will be a source of key information for parents and carers. https://www.therosehillschool.com/cornoavirus-advice-information/

Thank you for your continued to support in these difficult times.

  • Update on coronavirus (COVID 19) for your information

    Fri 13 Mar 2020

Update on coronavirus (COVID 19) for your information

I am writing to you all to update you with the steps that we’ve taken at school to minimise the risk of transmission of coronavirus at Rosehill School.  I get regular emails from the government and from Public Health England, advising us what we should be doing in school and in the community, and informing us about the virus.

Rosehill School will NOT close unless we are advised to do so by Public Health England or the Local Authority.

The main things that you need to know are:

    • The symptoms are a cough, with difficulty breathing and a fever
    • The incubation period is 2-14 days
    • The virus causes the more severe symptoms in people with weakened immune systems eg older people and those with long term conditions like diabetes, cancer and chronic lung disease
    • Very few cases have been reported in children, they are less likely to be affected by the virus
    • If you are worried that you have any symptoms of coronavirus, you MUST NOT go to the GP, pharmacy or hospital.  You must go home and call 111, or visit the NHS 111 website https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-advice/

To prevent the spread of infection, the advice is:

    • Wash hands regularly with soap and water (this is by far the best way to prevent infection, much more effective than alcohol sanitiser) for 20 seconds.  The advice for pupils is to wash their hands before leaving home in the morning, when they get to school, after using the toilet, after break, before eating, before leaving school
    • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the bin
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
    • If you have any of the symptoms and have travelled to any of the high-risk areas, stay at home

At school we have taken the advice of Public Health England and:

    • Our school cleaners have done a deep clean of the school, and will continue to do so
    • We have covered the subject of handwashing and preventing spread of the infection with the whole school community
    • Teachers are encouraging the pupils to hand wash regularly, for at least 20 seconds
    • We checked where families had travelled to over the half term holidays, and are continuing to check
    • All visitors to the school are being asked to sanitize or hand wash their hands before entering the school

As I said earlier, we are taking our advice from Public Health England, and will keep all of our parents and carers fully informed of any actions that we are taking.  We are working hard to make sure that we are reducing the risk of the infection at Rosehill School.

Please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the Rosehill team if you would like more information.
