  • National Education Union Strike Action 5th & 7th July

    Thu 22 Jun 2023

    Dear parents/carers,

    Re: Industrial strike action

I am getting in touch to give you as much notice as possible that the school will be closed to pupils on Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July.

Please find below our response to the proposed industrial strike action. You may be aware that the NEU (National Education Union) have declared strike action over a further 2 days as outlined below. The key issue is around pay, and the negative impact of this on the recruitment and retention of teachers, and therefore on the learning of pupils. This is not because of school level issues.

You will be aware that Teachers do not go on strike lightly. The NEU is the largest teaching union, and we expect a high number of teaching staff to be on strike on these days.

We have been continuing to review the situation and I can confirm that the school has taken all reasonable steps to try to keep the school open to pupils. Staff are not required to tell us in advance if they will be on strike. Any plans must ensure that we can safeguard all pupils on site, and ensure the health and safety of pupils and employees.

Following our risk assessments, we will be closing the school for pupils on Wednesday 5th and Friday 7th July.

We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you of any further arrangements or changes as soon as possible.

Any pupils eligible for Free school meals will be provided with a voucher for these days. School will organise this and contact parents accordingly.

Our school website provides a wide range of home learning resources which parents and pupils can access at any time https://www.therosehillschool.com/home-learning-remote-education/

I’m sorry about the disruption this may have caused, and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect. Rosehill School remains committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our pupils and delivering high-quality teaching.

If you have any questions, please contact the school through our main office.

As ever, thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

    Yours faithfully

  • National Thank a Teacher Day 21.6.23

    Fri 16 Jun 2023

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Please join us in celebrating National Thank a Teacher Day Wednesday 21st June.

On this day, Rosehill will be celebrating the inspirational work of our wonderful support staff and teachers at the heart of Rosehill’s community.

As you may have already heard, Wednesday 21st June is National Thank a Teacher and Support Staff Day. Last year thousands of children, staff and parents in schools across the UK took part. It was a really lovely day at Rosehill, where staff were thanked for all their hard work and support.

I would like to ensure that we join other schools again this year, in celebrating the positive role of our support staff and teaching team in making Rosehill School a wonderful and happy place for children and young people to learn.

We will be asking the pupils to make this day as special as possible for the staff by taking part in activities and sharing positive and kind feedback and messages with the staff.

Parents are invited to contact the school, or complete the positive comments slips attached to this letter for any specific thank you messages you would like to send to school to share with members of the team/ the whole school community.

On behalf of the whole school community and Governing Body, I would like to send a huge thank you to all our staff team for their hard work, determination and commitment, which continues to make Rosehill outstanding.

    Warm wishes

Support following the events of 13.6.23

    Dear Parents and Carers,

We are just writing to give you an update on the tragic events in Nottingham yesterday.

As you will probably be aware three people sadly lost their lives during a city attack in the early hours of the 13th June 2023. Following on from the information yesterday, I can confirm police are continuing to investigate the incident, and we will continue to update families with further necessary information.

Please find the latest updates from Nottinghamshire Police:

    news.nottinghamshire.police.uk

Our thoughts and sympathies remain with all the families affected by this shocking incident.

Please rest assured that every measure is taken by school to ensure that the children remain safe when they are here. This includes fenced and gated premises, locked and secured access points with only supervised and electronic entry, and high staff supervision. I wanted to give you further reassurance that the staff team are prepared to talk with pupils in an appropriate and sensitive way about the events that have unfolded should the pupils feel worried. However, it remains a priority to the school for our children and young people to feel safe.

The key for us all will be to ensure we support all of our pupils and their families. We will also share via our school website further information and support for families.

We understand how incredibly upsetting this is for the whole community and thank you for your ongoing support.

    Kind regards
