• World Book Day

  World Book Day 2015
   

  On March 5th children and staff at Rosehill celebrated World Book Day – “a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest celebration of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.” Reading is something that we really value at Rosehill and we understand the importance of children getting enjoyment from reading and stories.

   

  World Book Day is an excellent way to celebrate all the great literacy work we do at Rosehill. In preparation for World Book Day children participated in a range of book related activities and enjoyed completing reading booklets with their parents and carers, doing quizzes in classes, writing book reviews, taking part in drama activities and doing art work about their favourite books and characters.

   

  On the day students and almost every member of staff dressed up as favourite book characters and enjoyed World Book Day events in school: story and dressing up corners, World Book Day café and a special assembly with singing, class book reviews, drama and of course certificates and prizes for participation. Student’s literacy and art work was displayed in the hall and was showcasing all the excellent talents and efforts Rosehill students demonstrated in preparation for the special day.

  We will be holding our annual event to raise money for Red Nose Day 2015! As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Red Nose Day brings the entire nation together to do something funny for money.
