Extreme weather – Early optional closure information Wednesday 24th June & Thursday 25th June 2026
Although the heat has presented some challenges, our pupils and staff have responded admirably. I was particularly impressed during break and lunchtime to see so many pupils making sensible choices by seeking shade, staying hydrated and looking after themselves.
The decision to implement a half-day closure today was a sensible one. Having walked around the school this morning, classroom temperatures have become increasingly high and it is clear that some pupils will be struggling with the heat.
For this reason, we will operate today, Wednesday 24th June 2026 and tomorrow, Thursday 25th June, as an optional half-day closure.
- If you would like to collect your child at 12:30pm today and tomorrow please email Rosehill Admin admin@rosehill.nottingham.sch.uk or call the school on 0115 9155815
Also contact the school if you have any concerns or quries regarding this
Where parents are collecting their child, if your child travels via SEN transport, it will be parents’ responsibility to inform Transport directly of this arrangement.
We will continue to monitor conditions closely throughout the day to ensure that our arrangements remain appropriate and that pupils and staff are safe and well. At present, my hope is that we will be able to operate as normal on Friday. However, with the red weather warning still in place and temperatures unlike those we have previously experienced in school, it is important that we remain responsive to changing conditions.
As always, the welfare of our pupils and staff will be my overriding priority. I will write to you again tomorrow with an update and to confirm our arrangements for Friday.
Yours faithfully
Mrs Steele
Headteacher
