The session was led by our level 3 Teaching Assistant Sarah Newsham who is also a qualified Makaton trainer. Sarah delivered a parents’ Makaton session last year which was very well received.

You can also watch Makaton videos by Sarah on our website:

  • Red Nose Day

    Published 14/03/24

    Dear Parents/Carers

On Friday 15th March 2024, we will be raising money for Red Nose Day appeal by ‘Doing Something Funny for Money.’

This year we are asking pupils to come to school wearing something funny or red, whether that be a funny hairstyle, face paints or a silly outfit it will all help to make it a day of fun.

Our school kitchen will also be making cakes and biscuits which will be on sale to raise money.

Please send in a donation for wearing red and money if your child would like to purchase a cake or biscuit.

The money we raise will help people living really tough lives in the UK and across Africa. Your fundraising could help put food on plates and roofs over heads, keep little ones safe and help support families affected by conflict and climate change. On their behalf, thank you.

At Rosehill we always pull out all the stops for fantastic causes so let’s do something funny for money!

    Thank you,

    The Wellbeing Champions

  • World Book Day

    Published 22/02/24

    Dear Parents/Carers,

This year we are celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 7nd March. The theme we have chosen this year is "Art and Artists story books" which is linked to our curriculum “Take one picture” topic this term. Like every year, the day will be great fun and will be filled with stories, book hunts and immersive experiences.

To help us celebrate World Book Day, we would like as many children and staff as possible to come dressed as their favourite character from a book.

Attached to this letter is a £1 book token, which your child can use to get one of the brilliant reads for free https://www.worldbookday.com/books-and-tokens/books/ between 15 February and 31 March 2024.

We’re very much looking forward to celebrating World Book Day, which could not

happen without the support of parents and carers - thank you for your continued support.

    Best wishes,

    Tamara Riddell
    English Lead
    Acting Deputy Headteacher

  • Children’s Mental Health Week 2024

    Published 08/02/24

    Dear Parents/ Carers,

On the 8th of February we will be taking part in Children’s Mental Health Week 2024 focusing on ‘Self-love’ and ‘My Voice Matters.’

My Voice Matters is about empowering children and young people by providing them with the tools they need to express themselves. When we feel empowered, there’s a positive impact on our wellbeing. Children who feel that their voices are heard and can make a difference have a greater sense of community and self-esteem.

Pupils will be able to take part in a range of ‘Self-love’ activities throughout the day including our Valentines Disco and café. To really help them to feel extra special on the day it would be lovely for your child to come to school in their favourite outfit, best party clothes or just something red. We will be encouraging pupils to recognise their qualities through positive affirmation activities.

To find out more about supporting your child’s mental health and wellbeing please visit the school website where there are lots of useful links. You may also wish to visit the Now and Beyond website as the charity will be hosting a mental health festival with various live videos throughout the day. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you feel you need support regarding the wellbeing of yourself or child, we will be happy to provide a listening ear and signpost you to some of the support available.

We look forward to a lovely last day with the pupils.

    Kindest regards,

    The Wellbeing Champions
