Medical Needs and Allergy Awareness
At Rosehill School, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils with medical needs, allergies and dietary requirements are safe, supported and fully included in school life.
We work closely with parents, carers and healthcare professionals to understand each pupil's individual needs and put appropriate support in place. This may include Healthcare Plans, risk assessments, medication protocols and staff training where required.
Supporting Pupils with Medical Needs
We aim to ensure that pupils with medical conditions can:
Parents and carers are asked to inform the school of any medical conditions, allergies, dietary requirements or changes to their child's health as soon as possible.
Allergy Awareness
We recognise that allergies can range from mild sensitivities to life-threatening allergic reactions. Rosehill School takes allergy awareness seriously and has procedures in place to minimise risk and promote pupil safety.
These include:
Nut-Aware School
Rosehill School is a nut-aware school. We ask all families to support us by avoiding products that contain nuts in packed lunches and snacks wherever possible. This helps us create a safer environment for pupils and staff with severe allergies.
School Meals and Dietary Needs
Our catering team can support a wide range of dietary, cultural, religious and medical requirements. Parents and carers should discuss any specific dietary needs with the school so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
Natasha's Law
Natasha's Law was introduced to improve food safety and allergen awareness. It requires food businesses to provide clear allergen and ingredient information on pre-packed food, helping individuals and families make informed and safe choices.
Working Together
The safety and wellbeing of pupils with medical needs is a shared responsibility. By working together, we can ensure that every pupil is safe, included and able to participate fully in school life.
If you have any questions about medical needs, medication, allergies or dietary requirements, please contact the school office, who will be happy to help.
