Introduction

Rosehill School is a specialist school for children and young people aged 4–19 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and a diagnosis of autism.

Located in a residential area on the outskirts of Nottingham city centre, Rosehill provides education from the Early Years through to Sixth Form. Admissions are managed through Nottingham City Council (SEND admissions).

Rosehill School is proud to be part of the Nottingham Schools Trust, a partnership of schools working together to improve outcomes, share expertise and create greater opportunities for children and young people across the city. Through our membership of the Trust, we benefit from collaborative working, professional development and a shared commitment to excellence, inclusion and community.

We are fortunate to benefit from a range of specialist facilities that enrich learning and support pupil development. These include sensory spaces, a dance studio, PE hall, indoor and outdoor gym facilities, our Woodland Walk, café and training kitchens, and our Multi-Immersive Learning Environment (MILE), which provides engaging and innovative learning experiences.

At Rosehill, we are ambitious for every pupil. We are committed to delivering a broad and balanced curriculum that recognises individual strengths, nurtures personal development and enables pupils to achieve their full potential. Our approach focuses not only on academic achievement, but also on communication, independence, wellbeing and preparation for adulthood.

Our pupils are autistic young people with learning disabilities, many of whom have additional and often complex needs. We are proud of the expertise within our school community and the dedication of our highly skilled staff. We work collaboratively with families and a wide range of professionals, including Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Health Services, to ensure that every pupil receives the support they need to thrive.

Our vision has been co-produced with pupils, families, staff, governors and partners, reflecting our shared commitment to creating opportunities, raising aspirations and celebrating success. Together, we strive to ensure that every child and young person develops the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for the next stage of education, employment, community participation and adult life.

We recognise that every day matters. Alongside classroom learning, we provide a rich range of enrichment opportunities including sport, the arts, educational visits, cultural experiences, community engagement, work-related learning and work experience. These experiences help broaden horizons, develop independence and create lasting memories.

As a school, we are committed to continuous improvement and evidence-informed practice. We actively engage with current research and developments in autism education to ensure the best possible outcomes for our pupils. We are also passionate about sharing our expertise with families, professionals and the wider community, contributing to a greater understanding of autism and complex needs.
