Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

At Rosehill School, our Early Years provision provides a nurturing, engaging and highly personalised start to school life for autistic children. We follow the EYFS Statutory Framework, SEND Code of Practice and current safeguarding guidance to ensure every child is safe, supported and able to thrive. 

We help children develop the foundations for future learning through a focus on:

• Communication and language
• Personal, social and emotional development
• Physical development
• Early literacy and mathematics
• Independence and life skills
• Wellbeing and self-regulation
• Safety and safeguarding awareness
• Positive relationships and community inclusion

Learning takes place through play, exploration and meaningful experiences, supported by a total communication approach and therapeutic input. We work closely with families and professionals to ensure every child feels safe, valued and successful.

Safeguarding is embedded throughout our EYFS curriculum. Children are supported to develop an age and developmentally appropriate understanding of keeping safe, healthy relationships, trusted adults, online safety, personal boundaries, emotional wellbeing and asking for help when needed.

Our aim is for every child to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning, preparing them for a successful transition into Key Stage 1 and beyond.
