Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)

Speech and Language Therapy

At Rosehill School, we recognise that communication is central to learning, wellbeing and independence. We work closely with NHS Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT) to support pupils' communication, language, eating and drinking needs.

How We Support Pupils

  • A Total Communication Approach, including signs, symbols, photographs, visual timetables and communication aids
  • Individual communication strategies and targets where appropriate
  • Support for eating and drinking needs
  • Specialist advice and guidance from Speech and Language Therapists
  • Communication-rich learning environments
  • Staff training to ensure communication strategies are embedded throughout the school day

Impact

Our communication-focused approach helps pupils to:

  • Develop effective ways to communicate
  • Increase participation in learning and social interactions
  • Improve understanding and expression of language
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Access learning and wider opportunities more successfully
